Overview:
SAIT will be hosting its 3rd Annual Student Conference in Gauteng and the Western Cape. The event will coincide with SAIT’s 2nd Tax Amazing Race which will be held on the same day as the conference. The Tax Amazing Race will yet again be based on the “Amazing Race” television show where contestants strive to arrive first at “Pit stops”. Clues provided at each “pit stop”, lead the teams to the next destination or direct them to perform a task.
Who will attend the Annual Tax Student Conference?
2nd and 3rd years and honours students studying Tax or at least have tax as a subject.
Who will participate in the Tax Amazing Race?
Students who are following an honours module in taxation, will be given the opportunity to partake in this event whereby they have to apply their academic knowledge on SA Income Tax, PAYE and VAT in a practical, interactive and fun manner outside the classroom.
The Event!
The National Student Tax Conference (morning sessions) in both JHB and Cape Town are filled with insightful talks from representatives in the tax industry. To motivate our students, a motivational speaker will also be at the event to inspire students to have vision for their life and career, regardless how negative things might seem.
The Tax Amazing Race (afternoon session) the honours students will participate in teams of 8 – 10 students per team, in a race against time, customized with tax related content. Third year students will act as a support base for honours students partaking in the race by providing “phone a friend” style assistance and by cheering on their team in the race. Various activities will be performed at Ratanga Junction and Gold Reef City.
