Overview

The Employment Tax Incentive (ETI) is aimed at encouraging employers to hire young and inexperienced work seekers. It reduces an employer's cost of hiring young people through a cost-sharing mechanism with government, while leaving the wage the employee receives unaffected.

However, claiming the ETI leaves an employer open to various risks that must be managed in order to ensure that the business does not trigger unanticipated consequences. Because the ETI is largely based on employees and remuneration, most employers wholly depend on their payrolls to calculate the ETI that they may claim. Unfortunately, recent validation rules inserted into the SARS system have caused havoc and many employers have had ETI claims declined upon submission.

By attending this webinar, participants will gain an understanding of the ETI, as well as the risks that an employer claiming the ETI should manage.
