This year is the 20th addition of the must-attend annual Payroll Tax Seminar by Rob Cooper. This seminar details the final changes of the employment laws that will affect your payroll from March 2018 and has quickly become the most important date on your payroll calendar!

Course Content

Budget 2018
Will the Minister of Finance again look to Personal Income Tax to help shore up the holes in the budget? What else will be proposed for the future?

Tax changes
Foreign income tax rules have been relaxed - what will the effect be ?
Bursary tax relief has been significantly widened in scope and also increased in value
Far reaching changes have been made to the taxation of travel reimbursements and the manner of reporting on tax certificates
Non Executive Director tax rules will be wrapped up, as well as the advisability of employer loans to employees

Tax Certificate changes
Tax certificates will be changed for the August 2018 tax certificate submissions to accommodate the tax law changes.

UIF Amendments
We are moving towards finality on the changes to UIF benefit values, claim requirements and the monthly UIF payroll declaration

Compensation Fund
The latest on the Fund’s plans will be discussed.

Future Employment Tax trends
You will be updated on the National Minimum Wage status and any other major future events.


Rob Cooper is the Director of Legislation at Sage VIP Payroll & HR. As one of the company’s founders, he has an in-depth understanding of the impact of legislation on the HR and payroll software industry.

Over the last 20 years, his focus has been on the diverse legislation that governs the employment and payroll industry. Rob is a founding member and the current chairman of the Payroll Authors Group of South Africa, a body that liaises with statutory bodies on behalf of payroll system suppliers, and is a respected presenter at seminars and workshops around the country.

Rob completed his B.Sc in Computer Science at the University of Pretoria in 1971.

Payments & Cancellations

  • All payments must be made by EFT or by credit card, at least 3 working days before commencement of an event.

  • Kindly note that should payment not been received 2 days after the event, legal action will be taken

  • Proof of payment will be requested at registration, if payment at that point in time has not been reflected on SAIT's bank account.

  • Only written notice of cancellation will be recognised.

  • Conditions:

    • If the cancellation occurs more than 4 working days prior to the event no cancellation fee will be charged.

    • If the cancellation occurs less than 4 working days prior to the event a 100% cancellation fee will apply.

  • Delegates who book and fail to attend will be liable for the full event fee.

  • SAIT's liability in the case of an event being cancelled will be limited to a refund or credit of the event fee.
