Have been Accountant at GVK Siya Zama since 2006.Took a year sabbatical to complete studies and have now returned. I have educated myself on all things VAT in an effort to maintain strict company compliance. SARS has done three or four electronic audits as a result of large refunds due, during which I had to submit personal information to SARS as the person responsible for the reconciling of the Vat. During my sabbatical I had the opportunity to further acquaint myself with Business tax and the compilation of financial statements. I have to admit, I was a little disappointed at the quality of work provided by some smaller "accountants" to uneducated small business owners. The SAITP, with its disciplinary authority should see an end to such things.
Section 240A of the Tax Administration Act, 2011 (as amended) requires that all tax practitioners register with a recognized controlling body before 1 July 2013. It is a criminal offense to not register with both a recognized controlling body and SARS.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO REGISTER
