Sars collected 9.6 per cent more tax

Executive summary

Tax collections for the 2012/13 fiscal year amounted to R814.1bn, 9.6% higher than the R742.6bn collected during the preceding year. According to Minister Gordhan, SARS performed well given the current global economic environment and domestic supply side disruptions (such as the disruptions in the mining sector).

WHY REGISTER WITH SAIT?

Section 240A of the Tax Administration Act, 2011 (as amended) requires that all tax practitioners register with a recognized controlling body before 1 July 2013. It is a criminal offense to not register with both a recognized controlling body and SARS.
