ABSA is currently experiencing problems facilitating Customs and Excise payments to SARS via their electronic channels. We are aware that clients are currently unable to pay SARS using the Customs beneficiary ("SARS-CUS”) via Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) and eFiling credit push transactions.

The matter has been escalated and ABSA confirmed that it is receiving the highest priority to restore this service. Should you have any payments that are due it is recommended that you make alternative arrangements with other financial institutions to effect payment.

Section 240A of the Tax Administration Act, 2011 (as amended) requires that all tax practitioners register with a recognized controlling body before 1 July 2013. It is a criminal offense to not register with both a recognized controlling body and SARS.

The Act requires that a minimum academic and practical requirments be set to register with a controlling body. Click here for the minimum requirements of SAIT.
