SARS Branches Closed on Saturdays From 5 October 2013

In recent weeks there has been a steady decline in the number of taxpayers visiting SARS branches on a Saturday for help with the submission of Income Tax Returns. The special arrangement of opening on a Saturday during Tax Season will be discontinued as from Saturday, 5 October 2013 until further notice.

The following branches will be affected:

  • Alberton
  • Belville
  • Bloemfontein
  • Cape Town
  • Durban
  • Edenvale
  • Mthatha
  • Pietermaritzburg
  • Port Elizabeth
  • Pretoria North
  • Randburg
  • Rissik Street
  • Rustenburg
  • Vereeniging
  • Witbank

All SARS branches are to open as normal from Monday to Friday. Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri branches open from 08:00 to 16:00. On Wednesdays branches open from 09:00 to 16:00.

WHY REGISTER WITH SAIT?

Section 240A of the Tax Administration Act, 2011 (as amended) requires that all tax practitioners register with a recognized controlling body before 1 July 2013. It is a criminal offense to not register with both a recognized controlling body and SARS.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO REGISTER
