The Department of Trade and Industry published the Promotion and Protection of Investment Bill, 2013 for public comment on the 1st of October 2013. The purpose of the Bill is to to provide for the legislative protection of investors and the protection and promotion of investment; to achieve a balance of rights and obligations that apply to all investors; and to provide for matters connected therewith.

Section 240A of the Tax Administration Act, 2011 (as amended) requires that all tax practitioners register with a recognized controlling body before 1 July 2013. It is a criminal offense to not register with both a recognized controlling body and SARS.
