Notices relating to Amendments to Schedule 6 - Distillate Fuels and Refund Used by Farming & Mining

On the 12th of December 2013, SARS issued four tariff amendments relating to distillate fuels used by the farming sector and diesel refunds relating to farming and to mining activities.

The relevant tariff amendments with a short description of the amendments are as follow:

  • ​GG 37150, Notice R.1000: Schedule No. 6 - Amendment of Part 3 by the insertion ofNote 6(h)(vi) in respect of refunds relating to distillate fuel used by the farming sector.
  • GG 37150, Notice R.999: ​Schedule No. 6 - Amendment of Part 3 by the insertion of Note 6(a)(xi) in respect of refunds relating to distillate fuel used by the farming sector.
  • GG 37150, Notice R.998: Schedule No. 6 - Amendment of Part 3 by the insertion ofNote 6(h)(ii)(cc)(B)(DD) and Note 6(h)(vii) in respect of diesel refunds.
  • GG 37063, Notice R.997: Schedule No. 6 - Amendment of Part 3 by the substitution of Note 6(f)(iii)(cc) and Note 6(f)(iv) in respect of refunds relating to mining activities.

WHY REGISTER WITH SAIT?

Section 240A of the Tax Administration Act, 2011 (as amended) requires that all tax practitioners register with a recognized controlling body before 1 July 2013. It is a criminal offense to not register with both a recognized controlling body and SARS.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO REGISTER
