On 19 March 2014 SARS/National Treasury met with
various stakeholders, including SAIT, to provide feedback on the proposed
administration and legislative changes to the Regulation on Electronic Services
supplied by a person from a place in an export country. Various amendments were
proposed and the final regulations and binding general ruling governing these
changes will be released by the end of next week. SAIT will provide members
with these regulations once released.
Section 240A of the Tax Administration Act, 2011 (as amended) requires that all tax practitioners register with a recognized controlling body before 1 July 2013. It is a criminal offense to not register with both a recognized controlling body and SARS.
