I updated my profile in July 2013, when I became a member of SAIT.I tried to update/check my profile with SARS this morning. I was told that I can't do this personally, the recognised controlling body must do this.

eFiling has an HTTP 503 error this morning. Is this an deactivation/suspension error? I can't get verified as a tax practitioner on the site nor at the branch. The call centre won't help because some of the tax types are linked to my profile. GRRR!!!

Dear SAIT members, we are aware of the national problem with single registration and efiling. SAIT has an urgent meeting with SARS tomorrow to try and resolve these issues. We will keep you updated by means of a Member Alert, so please keep checking your emails.

Well that is not what I was told by SARS this morning. They said all tax practritioner's have been deactivated and that SAIT had to activ ate me. I presented SARS with your letter confirming my membership in good standing but they said that was of no value. Contact your con trolling body who must do the activation.

I have just spoken to SARS call centre. They are aware of the system problem, whereby we cannot update our details and show the controlling body. Was told to keep on trying as the technicians are working on it!

Please help, we have no luck as well. This is causing great frustration, we do not have access to the clients records. SAIT please intervene!!

Also having no luck with updating profile at SARS. According to the call centre we are all suspended until the 08/06/2014 or until they sort out their system , which ever comes first. SAIT has sent our registration details to SARS but SARs has this new procedure that is causing a major mess. We cannot have access to any clients records or work. The client must go to sars and create a profile linking us so that we can work!!!!! are they mad? SAIT please intervene!!!!

Efiling does not have a list of controlling bodies. What now?

WHY REGISTER WITH SAIT?

Section 240A of the Tax Administration Act, 2011 (as amended) requires that all tax practitioners register with a recognized controlling body before 1 July 2013. It is a criminal offense to not register with both a recognized controlling body and SARS.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO REGISTER

The Act requires that a minimum academic and practical requirments be set to register with a controlling body. Click here for the minimum requirements of SAIT.
