Three notices on safeguard duties in relation to frozen potato chips

SARS has released three notices pertaining to the safeguard duties in relation to frozen potato chips, dealt with in Schedule 2 of the Customs and Excise Act, 1964.

Notice R575: Insertion of items 260.00 and 260.02 for remedial action in the form of a safeguard duty against the importation of frozen potato chips.

Notice R576: Insertion of item 260.02/2004.10.20/01.06 for remedial action in the form of a safeguard duty against the importation of frozen potato chips - ITAC Report 457

Notice R577: Reduction of the safeguard duty against the increased imports of frozen potato chips - ITAC Report 457.


WHY REGISTER WITH SAIT?

Section 240A of the Tax Administration Act, 2011 (as amended) requires that all tax practitioners register with a recognized controlling body before 1 July 2013. It is a criminal offense to not register with both a recognized controlling body and SARS.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO REGISTER
