Three tariff amendment notices amending Part 1 of Schedule No. 1 of Customs and Excise Act

Tariff amendments are made in terms of the Customs and Excise Act, 1964 by notice in the Government Gazette.The amendments are as follows:

  • The rate of customs duty on certain helical springs has been increased from 5% to 10%, and the change can be found in notice 69.
  • The rate of customs duty on certain wire products has been increased from 5% to 15%, and the change can be found in notice 68
  • There will no longer be customs duty on coated fine paper, and the change can be found in notice 67

WHY REGISTER WITH SAIT?

Section 240A of the Tax Administration Act, 2011 (as amended) requires that all tax practitioners register with a recognized controlling body before 1 July 2013. It is a criminal offense to not register with both a recognized controlling body and SARS.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO REGISTER
