I would like to avail myself of this opportunity at the end of this year. Unfortunately I paid Sage Pastel for the annual Tax update in December 2014 and this cost me R1 824. I feel that paying the subscription now would be too much of a financial burden .

Please can you tell me if this is compulsary as a tax practitioner and how many hours per year am I required to have?

Section 240A of the Tax Administration Act, 2011 (as amended) requires that all tax practitioners register with a recognized controlling body before 1 July 2013. It is a criminal offense to not register with both a recognized controlling body and SARS.

The Act requires that a minimum academic and practical requirments be set to register with a controlling body. Click here for the minimum requirements of SAIT.
