Amendment of Part 1 of Schedule No. 1: Increase in customs duty rate for wheat and wheaten flour

SARS published an amendment to Part 1 of Schedule No 1 of the Customs and Excise Act on 12 March 2015.

The amendments are to increase the rate of customs duty on wheat and wheaten flour from 15,7c/kg to 46,1c/kg and 23,5c/kg to 69,2c/kg respectively, in terms of the existing variable tariff formula.

WHY REGISTER WITH SAIT?

Section 240A of the Tax Administration Act, 2011 (as amended) requires that all tax practitioners register with a recognized controlling body before 1 July 2013. It is a criminal offense to not register with both a recognized controlling body and SARS.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO REGISTER
