Member Alert: Bogus Colleges

The Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) is aware of several colleges and institutions purporting to offer higher education programmes without registration by the DHET. In an attempt to warn the public, the Department has published the following list of bogus colleges as a means to raise awareness and warn the public about unscrupulous providers and their modus operandi.

SAIT as a responsible professional body hereby would like to inform its members and the public interested in furthering their studies, to take cognisance when choosing an institute and relevant programme.

This is great. I have to report on one of these institutions listed and it gives me great comfort to know that is listed under "Registered Institutions"

WHY REGISTER WITH SAIT?

Section 240A of the Tax Administration Act, 2011 (as amended) requires that all tax practitioners register with a recognized controlling body before 1 July 2013. It is a criminal offense to not register with both a recognized controlling body and SARS.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO REGISTER

The Act requires that a minimum academic and practical requirments be set to register with a controlling body. Click here for the minimum requirements of SAIT.
