First Batch – Draft Customs Duty Rules under Chapters 1, 3 to 9 and 11 to 13

The draft contains the draft rules proposed under Chapters 1,3 to 9 and 11 to 13 of the Customs Duty Act, 2014, which deal with issues such as payments, penalties and interest.

If you have an interest in this matter, kindly submit all comments to taxassist@thesait.org.za. The due date for the comments has been extended to 19 June 2015.

SAIT makes submissions to government depending on the interest of its members.

WHY REGISTER WITH SAIT?

Section 240A of the Tax Administration Act, 2011 (as amended) requires that all tax practitioners register with a recognized controlling body before 1 July 2013. It is a criminal offense to not register with both a recognized controlling body and SARS.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO REGISTER

The Act requires that a minimum academic and practical requirments be set to register with a controlling body. Click here for the minimum requirements of SAIT.
