Kenya becomes the 94th jurisdiction to join the most powerful multilateral instrument

Kenya today signed the Multilateral Convention on Mutual Administrative Assistance in Tax Matters. Kenya is the 12th African country to sign the Convention and the 94th jurisdiction to join it.

Salma Ahmed, Ambassador of the Republic of Kenya to France signed the Convention in the presence of the OECD Deputy Secretary General, Douglas Frantz.

Section 240A of the Tax Administration Act, 2011 (as amended) requires that all tax practitioners register with a recognized controlling body before 1 July 2013. It is a criminal offense to not register with both a recognized controlling body and SARS.
