Domestic trusts are well understood as effective estate and creditor protection planning tools. However, in light of various anti-avoidance measures, which have in recent years been implemented to curb the use of trust structures as a means of, inter alia, the avoidance of tax, trusts have become complex to administer.

By attending this webinar, participants will gain a greater understanding of the practical requirements associated with the administration of trusts, which includes the taxation of trusts as well as the measures put in place to ensure the lawful and proper use of trusts.

Course Content

  • The basics: What is a trust and who are the main role-players?
  • Requirements of a valid trust as well as who can be nominated as a trustee or beneficiary
  • Taxation of trusts
  • Further considerations, e.g., the right to disclosure of information held by trustees
