The day-to-day management and operations of SAIT (South African Institute of Tax Practitioners) are entrusted to the Secretariat (the collective term referring to the staff of the Institute). The Chief Executive is the head of the Secretariat.

Strategy and Policy

This is determined by the Board of the Institute. The Board is also responsible for overseeing the implementation of policy and strategy as well as monitoring the performance of the Secretariat.

Section 240A of the Tax Administration Act, 2011 (as amended) requires that all tax practitioners register with a recognized controlling body before 1 July 2013. It is a criminal offense to not register with both a recognized controlling body and SARS.
