SAIT will be visiting the University of Stellenbosch on Tuesday 30 July to introduce promising young students and scholars to the new tax professional career path. One of SAIT's most exciting recent projects was the development of the tax professional qualification, which was headed by Ronel de Kock, the Head of Education at SAIT. This qualification was developed in collaboration with various industry leaders to ensure that future tax practitioners are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to rise above their competition.

SAIT will also be engaging with the students on the career opportunities that the professional tax qualification and the newly established masters' programme on taxation offer. For many students this will be the first opportunity to interact with SAIT and to learn about the benefits of choosing SAIT as their lifelong partner in tax.

SAIT and Contiki are also collaborating to bring some extra excitement to university career days around the country. The SAIT/Contiki Tax Treasure Competition provides a fun way for students to engage with SAIT and to learn more about different tax career paths. At the end of the year the student who successfully locates the Contiki Tax Treasure will win a Contiki trip for two to Thailand.

Section 240A of the Tax Administration Act, 2011 (as amended) requires that all tax practitioners register with a recognized controlling body before 1 July 2013. It is a criminal offense to not register with both a recognized controlling body and SARS.
