Standard Bank supports two banking channels:

1.       For Corporates – Business online (BoL) also referred to as CATS.

On efiling once the return is filed, members are choose the credit push option and choose the "Standard Bank Business Online (CATS)”

Once selected it will require the client to insert their "USER ID”. User ID refers to the Profile ID and NOT the Client Operator ID that they use to log onto Business online.  The USER ID can be viewed at the bottom right hand side of the clients Business Online system once they have logged on.

After authorising the client logs onto Business online, navigates to SARS efiling and authorises the payment. The detail is as per the link.

The client also the option of capturing a payment if need be if unclear on the credit push options.

2.       For Individuals and Small Business Using Standard Bank Internet Banking –

We have of late just introduced an Electronic bill presentment solution (MyBills)  to accommodate for SARS payments.

Again on efiling the client files the return and chooses Standard Bank (Mybills) as the credit push option.Clients would than need to log into Standard Bank Internet banking and follow the prompts as per the attached document.

For Tax practioners, what is important to note is that the Bill is retrieved using ID No., Company Reg No. or passport Number. We further validate account number with what SARS has on file and if there is no match they will not return a bill. So there is a two factor validation ID and account number.

It is important to note nowhere is the client asked for their credentials so we use what originally set-up when the Internet banking profile was created. Hence if a individual is using his personal profile and has a business account loaded onto the profile they will have difficulty as we would send the ID No and not the company reg no. on an underlying account. This will fail the validation at SARS.Again the client does have other payment options using the once off payment options as defined in the link (Internet Banking payment options)

Section 240A of the Tax Administration Act, 2011 (as amended) requires that all tax practitioners register with a recognized controlling body before 1 July 2013. It is a criminal offense to not register with both a recognized controlling body and SARS.
