Foreign subsistence allowance

Guide for Employers in respect of Allowances – 2014 tax year relates.  Discrepancies on a previous version of the deemed daily expenditure allowed by SARS with regard to foreign travel has now been corrected and an updated schedule has been uploaded on the SARS website. 

SARS Focus Group 

An interesting meeting was held between a number of SAIT members and representatives from SARS.  SARS facilitated this meeting to obtain insight into the frustrations experienced by the tax practitioners with regard to SARS services.  The content of the meeting can unfortunately not be disclosed due to the fact that non-disclosure agreements had to been signed by the attendees.  

Use of SARS case numbers

The two operational issues raised by SAIT members and presented by SAIT’s Operational Executive, Emmerentia Fischer, at the SARS Operational Meeting at Bloemfontein were successfully been resolved even before the scheduled meeting with SARS! 

Success stories

The two cases that were presented at the SARS Operational Meeting at Bloemfontein has been successfully resolved even before the scheduled meeting! 

KZN - Compliance 

A new process for submission of PCC cases and instances where the turnaround time is exceeded has been introduced.  For more details click here

Section 240A of the Tax Administration Act, 2011 (as amended) requires that all tax practitioners register with a recognized controlling body before 1 July 2013. It is a criminal offense to not register with both a recognized controlling body and SARS.
