The SAIT Technical team met with Senior SARS personnel in the Customs & Excise division as well as in the LBC Unit.

The purpose of the meetings was to discuss how SAIT can open up communication channels with SARS on various matters such as concerns experienced by our members but also concerns raised by SARS.

The meetings were very fruitful and more feedback on the future meetings held with these SARS units will be provided as and when they occur.

It would be very helpful if the employees at the LBC actually did their work. In a recent matter none of my client's correspondence relating to the entries in its account have been answered. SARS simply appears to do as they please.

SARS is running such a function at the moment. On their home page, they have a 'What's new' tab under which the latest amendments, forms and other relevant information can be found. Please use the following link to access it:

Sharon. Can you please consider to request SARS to give taxpractioners a type of "tab' or something else on thir web site, may be with a password, where they post all changes whatso ever to any legistaltion, regulations or documents. This will enable us to get always the latest documents ect and not searching the whole web site. This will also help to get the updated forms. We had a situation where we have used a new form and whent to SARS just to find out that the form have been replaced. A " tab" with new forms will prevent this.

Section 240A of the Tax Administration Act, 2011 (as amended) requires that all tax practitioners register with a recognized controlling body before 1 July 2013. It is a criminal offense to not register with both a recognized controlling body and SARS.
