SARS Easyfile 6.0.2. has been released.

According to SARS, this is a minor update that includes a correction to the IT88 outcome submission process, as well as a fix for an issue where viewing the PDF of an already submitted IRP5 certificate sets its status to amended.

One of the main priorities for this update is an enhancement to the application logon page to allow employers to restore a database backup without needing to log in.

Over the past 2 weeks SARS has received queries from Employers that have reported symptoms such as Employees data not showing under "View/Edit Employees” and Employer demographic information showing as disabled under "View/Edit/Change Employer”.

The cases investigated showed that the database conversion from version 6.0.0. did not complete successfully, resulting in damaged DB files. In these cases the employer will now be able to complete a restore of a previous backup file even if they cannot login. This should remove the need for employer to manually clear files from their easyFile local store folder.

After restoring a backup, the employer should check that they can edit the Employer Demographic information to check that the backup file contained a valid database file. In the cases above the database file was damaged in version 6.0.0. of the application, and so a backup from version 5.0.9. was successfully used by Employers to retrieve their previous data and continue working.
