Matsobane is the former CEO of SAICA and CFO of SARS. He served under various SARS operational capacities for many years, including the Large Business Centre during Pravin Gordhan’s tenure as Commisisoner. He is currently CEO at Matlwa Consulting, a management consultancy he founded. He has strong experience in the government, non-profits and private sector. He is acutely aware of key stakeholder expectations.

Matsobane is a qualified Chartered Accountant (SA) and holds an MBA from Alabama University in the United States, a Master of Commerce (Taxation) from the Graduate Institute of Management and Technology (South Africa) and has completed management programmes from the University of Cape Town and the University of Potchefstroom.

His previous experience also includes serving on the board of several companies including SAA, Transnet, JD Group and SASOL.



Angela is a Chartered Director (SA) and is the former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Institute of Directors in Southern Africa (IoDSA). She has been central in her role toward upholding the concept of corporate governance for all entities registered under the Companies Act.

She holds a certificate in Management and Introduction to Management and Economic Sciences from the University of South Africa.
Angela originally joined the IoDSA in July 2004 to formalise and grow the organisation’s director development offering. She has previously held the position of Chief Operating Officer having been promoted to the role in 2008 and was appointed as an executive director in 2009 and has been involved in the field of director education for 15 years.

Angela is a shareholder and Director of Professional Service Hub (Pty) Limited – YourHub, an organisation established to offer leadership and management support services in the professional body and association community. She is a non-executive director of 4Lend (Pty) Limited, a special purpose vehicle within the 4 Africa Exchange (Pty) Limited stable, a trustee of the Endangered Wildlife Trust and the independent chair of the Nominations Committee for the Water Research Institute South Africa. She is also the former chair of the Global Network of Director Institutes (GNDI) and now works actively with the international forum in support of its Secretariat. She served as the deputy chair of the African Corporate Governance Network (ACGN) from 2016 to 2019.



Peter is Managing Partner at Gillan & Veldhuizen Inc, Cape Town (Specialisation: Commercial and Property law related matters). He serves on multiple profit and non-profit boards with a special focus on governance, risk and disciplinary procedures.

He holds the following qualifications: Advanced Corporate Law and Securities, MBA International Financial Management and Business Research, MBA Financial Management and Financial Strategy, MBA Fundamentals of Senior Management, LLM Commercial Laws Masters, Certificate in Tax and BProc.

Peter is a highly successful and solutions driven legal specialist, arbitrator, mediator, strategist and board member, with 20+ years’ experience within matters of Commercial Law locally and within Africa.



Botlhale is a Director at Deloitte. She holds an LLB, LLM Banking, LLM Tax and HDip International Tax. She has been a member of SAIT for over 10 years, roughly since its inception.

She is an admitted attorney and has experience in corporate tax, transaction tax and expatriate tax. She is experienced in providing tax advice in corporate tax consulting, structuring and funding of transactions, corporate tax compliance, due diligence reporting and conducting tax reviews. In addition, Botlhale has been involved with the tax audit of many financial sector companies. She has a unique combination of legal and accounting skills, especially in terms of tax oversight of companies.



Ferdie is the Chief Executive Officer at STA Konsult and is the former National Head of Tax at BDO South Africa. He is an experienced tax expert with deep specialisation in taxation, VAT, fiscal economics, and tax modelling. He comes with a strong mix of strategic management and entrepreneurial skills.

He holds various qualifications, including a Master’s degree in Economics (with distinction), a Master’s degree in Taxation, and PhD. He is a Master Tax Practitioner registered with SAIT.

Ferdie consults to various multinational companies in operation or planning to settle in South Africa and has successfully represented a number of clients in alternative dispute resolutions and settlements against SARS.

Ferdie co-authored the KPMG Managing VAT Handbook, edited the Practical VAT Handbook, and wrote the VAT Practical Guide. Ferdie also writes for the Business Day Business, Tax and Law Review, and has a monthly Tax Technical Column. Ferdie writes various tax technical articles for South African and international publications. Ferdie has often done radio interviews and panel discussions. Ferdie has also participated in various television interviews and panel discussions. Ferdie also lectures at Honours and Master’s degree levels on tax technical issues.



Chrisna is a partner at Lloyd Viljoen Accountants in Johannesburg. She is a General Tax Practitioner (SA). She has a strong independent practice in line with many SAIT members. She holds a BCom (Accounting), BCompt (Hons) and a Certificate in Theory of Accounting. She understands that many entrepreneurs are not always sure what to do when they open their own business. She enjoys providing professional assistance and guidance, relating to tax and financial management, to individuals as well as small and start-up businesses.



Kabelo is the Banking Tax Leader at Deloitte South Africa. She has served admirably on the board for the last 5 years and is seeking renewal.

She is a Chartered Accountant (SA) and holds a BAcc, CTA and HDip Tax Law from the University of Johannesburg.
Previously Kableo was an associate director and Partner at EY, and prior to that was responsible for setting-up the tax practice at Ngubane & Co.

In addition to her full-time position, Kabelo serves other institutions including the National Development Agency as a member of the audit committee and a founding board member of the African Women Chartered Accountants Forum (AWCA).



Duane is Director of his own consulting practice, Cova Advisory & Associates and previously led a tax team at Deloitte. Duane has unique expertise in growing businesses and has a strong understand of large corporate clientele. He is a qualified Chartered Accountant and a registered master tax practitioner.

Duane has extensive experience in the fields of inward investment advisory, customs and international trade consulting, government grant and incentive advisory, and sustainability and climate change consulting.

Previously he was a partner at Deloitte Consulting, where he headed the Global Customs and Trade business, the Tax Management Consulting business, the Government Grants business, and most recently was the firm-wide leader for the Sustainability and Climate
Change practice for Deloitte South Africa. He has advised many multinationals in setting up business in South Africa.



Pieter is Associate Director for AJM Tax.
He holds a Master of Accounting, Taxation; Honours Bachelor of Accounting Science (BCompt), Bachelor of Law (LLB), and a Bachelor of Accounting.

Pieter is a taxation expert focused on solution driven advice, strict regulatory compliance, dispute resolution and innovative business improvement initiatives. He has professional and academic competencies in corporate governance, most especially the King IV code having lectured on the subject matter at university level. With about a decade of professional experience streamlining operational processes and projects, is proficient in business accounting, risk management, auditing, expenditure control, budget monitoring and financial reporting.



Keith Engel is the CEO of SAIT. As CEO, he is heavily engaged in tax at a policy, legislative and interpretative level by liaising with, among others, National Treasury, Parliament, SARS, the Davis Tax Committee and the private sector. Keith is an honorary adjunct professor at the University of Cape Town, North Western University and Rhodes University, and he has lectured at South African and international universities. Keith is well known for his leading roles in the formulation of tax legislation at the National Treasury from 2000 to 2013.

Keith obtained his Masters of Laws of Taxation at Georgetown Law, and holds a professional doctorate (J.D) from Georgetown Law. 



Michelle Landman is an operations, leadership and financial controls expert. She has been employed with SAIT for the past 7 years and currently holds the positions of Chief Operating Officer and Financial Director.

Michelle’s passion lies in managing the operations, people and finances of an organisation. She takes pride in being goal orientated and assertive when the need arises. These qualities have led to her professional successes.

Michelle completed her SAICA articles in 2011 at Lloyd Viljoen Auditors. Michelle holds a BCom Accounting and BCom Industrial Psychology from the University of Johannesburg.

Section 240A of the Tax Administration Act, 2011 (as amended) requires that all tax practitioners register with a recognized controlling body before 1 July 2013. It is a criminal offense to not register with both a recognized controlling body and SARS.
