The Phambili intervention is an exciting new opportunity for currently registered or suspended tax practitioners who need upskilling as per SARS requirements.

The purpose of this training programme is to upskill currently registered tax practitioner members of RCBs already in practice, who were allowed to apply for membership at SAIT and AT(SA) on an NQF 4 level, but need upskilling to at least an NQF 5 within three years of registration with the RCB as required by the South African Revenue Service (SARS) Criteria for the Recognition of Controlling Bodies. If an NQF 5 qualification is not obtained, practitioners will lose their ability to retain membership with the RCB and will not be able to practice as tax practitioners.

The project will upskill members who complete the Occupational Certificate: Tax Technician to NQF 6. This will ensure the retention of the tax practitioner’s SARS practitioner number and adherence to legislation, and therefore allow practitioners to experience job satisfaction through the work that they are doing and the contribution that they are making to the economy of the country.

Funded by Fasset (the Finance and Accounting Services Sector Education and Training Authority), the course is jointly managed by Credo Business College and SAIT. All programme training costs are funded by Fasset.

This programme is presented as a distance learning programme.

All applicants will write an online reasoning assessment. This assessment will be emailed to you within 48 hours of receipt of your application. Please note, you will receive this assessment from the email address assessments018@gmail.com. Any other communication pertaining to the application process must be sent to phambili@credobusinesscollege.co.za

Accreditation and certification:

Candidates who pass the EISA will be awarded the Occupational Certificate: Tax Technician by the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO) as the regulatory body. This qualification will ensure retention of professional body membership and the tax practitioner’s SARS practitioner number.

WHY REGISTER WITH SAIT?

Section 240A of the Tax Administration Act, 2011 (as amended) requires that all tax practitioners register with a recognized controlling body before 1 July 2013. It is a criminal offense to not register with both a recognized controlling body and SARS.
